Ananda Academy opens in Boulder Crossroads
Boulder, CO - Boulder now has a great new resource for dance instruction and information along with a state-of-the art dance class and event venue as The Ananda Academy opens its home in Boulder Crossroads (mall lower level), 1700 28th Street, Suite 172, Boulder, Colo. 80301. Children, seniors, novices and pre-professionals, academy students and private parties will all enjoy what the Ananda Academy is able to offer with this new venue.
The state-of-the-art, 3600-square foot dance studio and event venue, decorated with Old World charm, provides an unparalleled learning environment for Colorado dancers of all abilities. A collection of dance art warms the walls as chandeliers grace the ceiling. A springboard floor provides the best dance surface design today, while top sound and visual technology helps create an incredible space for both teaching and learning. A 1200-volume private dance library, which boasts 600 dance videos and thousands of periodicals, will prove to be a unique asset to Ananda students as well as the community at large. The space, coupled with the expertise of certified dance instructors, ensures a positive, successful, and most of all, fun dance experience for all.
A bright new concept in dance, Ananda Academy is a nonprofit dance institution dedicated to the art of dance and providing access to the most professional instruction and information available. It's intent is to bring a rich dance community to the Rocky Mountain region. The Ananda Academy features the first fully certified instructor program in Colorado, but its focus will always be to offer fun, thoughtful instruction and real access to the world of dance. Regular classes will be offered, from child/novice to pre-professional levels, in Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance, and a wide variety of Ballroom styles. Special events will bring world-renowned dance performers and instructors from Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
The Ananda Academy
Gabriel Wilson and Yuko Arimori Wilson founded the Ananda Academy as a nonprofit organization in 1999. Gabriel is a trained dance professional who has studied ballet since childhood and has worked as an instructor and performer, competitor and instructor in ballet and ballroom since 1983. Yuko is a professional marathon runner and Olympic medallist. The Wilsons have made Boulder their home, and founded Ananda Academy as a means of giving to the community. The Ananda Academy mission is four-fold: to create a pre-professional dance program which is recognized nationally and internationally as a first-rate school for the study of professional dance; to bring dance to all people in our community so they may experience the joy of dance with trained, experienced dance instructors; to support other dance professionals, organizations, and students; and to increase access, education, and support from both the public and private sectors of our community.
