Estelle & Alfonso of USA compete in international competition

The Estelle & Alfonso performers were the only American competitors at the international "Pick the Stars" competition in Montreal, Quebec, Canada recently. The local troupe had 26 entries, all having qualified from the regional competition held in Connecticut this past season, and every group came home victorious.
Platinum trophies (score between 96 and 100) were captured by Melissa Nagelhout for her Jazz solo "New Attitude," and by Kristen Scivolette & Melissa Nagelhout for their duo "Stronger."
Gold trophies (score between 90 and 95) were won by Beth Whalen and Ashley Scadura for their Gymnastics "Old Time Rock n Roll." Brittany Smith received two gold trophies for her open, "Sweet Emotion" and "The First Time" Lyrical. Gold was also won by Tiffany Schmid for her open "Move that Body;" Kristen Scivolette for her Jazz, "Man, I Feel Like a Woman;" Beth Whalen for her Gymnastics "Never" as well as her Hip Hop "Most Girls;" Ashley Scadura for her open "Chatahoochie;" Joyce Sozio for her Tap "Top Hat;" Jaimye Murphy and Trisha Planells for Jazz duo "Bugaboo;" Brittany Schmid for Ballet "Butterfly;" "ABC" by the Rubies, who are Alicia Douglas, Brianna McPherson, Michael Morabito, Jaimye Murphy, Annie Rickard, Venessa Stevens and Danielle Yapp; "Dance To the Music" by the Emeralds, who are Cynthia Cohen, Mara Pesacreta, Trisha Planells, Kealy Ryder, Brittany Salgado, Christina Salgado, Ashley Scadura, Brittany Schmid and Joyce Sozio; "Let's Get Loud" the Production number by Cynthia Cohen, Jaimye Hilfiger, Jaimye Murphy, Amanda Maine, Melissa Nagelhout, Trisha Planells, Keally Ryder, Brittany Salgado, Christina Salgado, Ashley Scadura, Kristen Scivolette, Brittany Schmid, Brittany Smith, Venessa Stevens and Joyce Sozio; "Rhythm Nation" by the Rubies, Alicia Douglas, Brianna McPherson, Michael Morabito, Jaimye Murphy, Annie Rickard, Venessa Stevens and Danielle Yapp; "Sea Cruise" by the Emeralds, Cynthia Cohen, Mara Pesacreta, Trisha Planells, Kealy Ryder, Brittany Salgado, Christina Salgado, Ashley Scadura, Brittany Schmid and Joyce Sozio; "Marco Polo" Rhythmic Gymnastic duo by Brittany and Tiffany Schmid. Brittany also won Gold for her "Cattle Call."
High Silver trophies (score of 85-89) were "Barbie Girl" trio Acro by Ariel Alperstein and Ashley Scadura and Deanna Virtue; "Little Bitty Pretty One" Jazz duo by Ariel Alperstein and Deanna Virtue; "Anything Can Happen" Lyrical by Alyssa Greco; "These Boot Are Made For Walking" Jazz by Hayli Altman; "Who Let the Dogs Out" Jazz Duo by Venessa Stevens and Danielle Yapp and "Canned Heat" Open for Christina Salgado.
In Addition, Estelle & Alfonso's Production group received the prestigious Meritas Costas Trophy Award.
