25th Anniversary of the Robert Ivey Ballet
Twenty Fifth Anniversary
The Robert Ivey Ballet, the company in-residence at the College of Charleston School of the Arts, continues its celebration of their Twenty Fifth Anniversary in 2002.
The Spring Gala Performance brings an anniversary celebration not to be missed. New selections as well as favorites from the repertoire will be presented. The Anniversary Celebration will be held April 12 & 13 at 8:00 pm and April 14 at 3:00 pm at the Sottile Theatre, 44 George St. Tickets are $15.00 for adults and $12.00 for students and senior citizens. China Tour 2002
The Robert Ivey Ballet has been invited to represent the city of Charleston, the State of South Carolina, and the United States in the China Cultural Exchange in July of 2002. The selection was based upon good citizenship, outstanding talent, and the ability to represent the United States at its best. Artistic Director Robert Ivey has also been asked to choreograph one number in dedication of the friendship bond between the people of the United States and China.
In preparation for this event, the Robert Ivey Ballet will be hosting many fund-raisers, one of which is the "Adopt-a-Dancer" program. Area businesses and social groups are being asked to sponsor one of fifteen dancers chosen to represent the Robert Ivey Ballet Company on this tour. In return, the sponsor will receive press recognition and a "gift" from China. The cost for each dancer chosen to attend is $2,350.00. This includes airfare, accommodations, meals, and transportation for the ten-day tour.
