Kirov Academy Students Triumph at Youth America Grand Prix!

Sixteen-year-old Matthew Golding of the Kirov Academy of Ballet captured the GRAND PRIX Award at the 2002 New York City finals of the Youth America Grand Prix. Hee Seo, also sixteen, and a fellow student at The Kirov Academy won the Silver Medal in the Senior Women's category.

Matt Golding, from Saskatchewan, Canada, has been a student at the Kirov Academy for two years, where he has studied with Vladimir Djouloukhadze. As the Grand Prix winner, Matt received a contract to the American Ballet Theater Studio Company.

Hee Seo, born and raised in Seoul, Korea, has been studying under and coached by Alla Sizova since coming to the Kirov Academy in 2000. Hee received a cash prize. April Giangeruso, 10, was a Third Place winner and Kuzey Kiyican, 17, was awarded a full scholarship for the summer session at the Colorado Ballet.

The OUTSTANDING SCHOOL AWARD was presented this year to The Kirov Academy of Ballet of Washington, DC. This award is given to the school that most closely represents the original criteria of classical ballet applied by the Board of Judges at the Youth Grand Prix.
