Central Florida Ballet Presents: On Center Stage!
Grab your top hat and tails and be ready for the spotlight, as Central Florida Ballet, Orlando's tour de force in dance, takes to the stage again for a summer week of events hotter than the soaring temperatures!
The week begins with the return of Sascha Radetsky of American Ballet Theatre and the hit dance film, "Center Stage" to Orlando. Mr. Radetsky will meet with local dancers and fans for two evenings of discussion, photos, and autographs. Don't miss this opportunity to mingle with not only Mr. Radetsky but also other internationally acclaimed dance stars!
The show goes on with Central Florida Ballet's premiere season performance, "On Center Stage". Among the new works on the August 3rd and 4th performances will be a world premiere ballet by CFB choreographer and dancer Dawhone Perry. His debut for the company last year, "Dangerous," received standing ovations and critical acclaim. Now Mr. Perry will stretch his brilliant choreographic talent to the world of sports in "Slam Dunk," a ballet that combines the athleticism of basketball with the artistry of ballet and the fluidity of contemporary movement. CFB dancers and local athletes will unite to bring this work to the stage!
Classical excerpts include "The Enchanted Garden" from the full-length ballet "Le Corsaire," which will feature the classical discipline of the CFB dancers. Featured will be Dragos Mihalcea, David Palmer, and CFB dancer/co-director Heather Sanders in leading roles.
Other works include the Orlando premiere of two ballets created for Miami-based company Maximum Dance. Guest artists Gael Lambiotte and Sabine Chaland of the Boston Ballet also join CFB, enhancing the program with their internationally acclaimed artistry. Gael and Sabine will be featured in a world premiere by up and coming choreographer Joseph Morrissey, also from Boston.
CFB Director Vasile Petrutiu will round out the evening with another eclectic new choreography in this dance event sure to bring the audience once again to its feet and to the stage! Don't miss this chance to "join the movement" and join Central Florida Ballet On Center Stage.
