On Stage America - East Providence Rocks the House!
Rhode Island, the smallest state in the U.S. made a big splash the weekend of March 23 & 24. East Providence welcomed us with open arms. On Stage America would like to thank all of the friendly people at the competition.
The petite division stole the judges' hearts and made the judges' decisions very difficult. But nonetheless, they had to pick between them. Highest scoring Petite solo went to Katherine Lopes with her rendition of "Sweet Zoo." The Petite duo/trio winners were Bailey Partridge and Tori Hawthorn for "Only Time." "Poison Ivy" won the highest scoring petite small group. Highest scoring petite production went to "Another Cha-Cha." Ms. Jessica Piche was crowned Ms. Petite On Stage America with her performance of "Workin' It."
The juniors, who set the standard for the petites, and aspire to become seniors in just a few short years, always impress the judges with their refined character - which is quite visible in their demeanor and their dance. Kimba Mansuetti won the highest scoring Junior solo trophy with her performance of "Stuff Like That There." Highest scoring Junior duo/trio went to Kelly Brabants and Jillian MacLean for "Bye Bye Life." The winners of the Junior small group plaque danced to their own beat with "Din Da Da." The winners of the Junior production plaque had winner written all over them with their rendition of "The Blue Man Group." Mr. Robert Palardy became Mr. Junior On Stage America when he danced to "Close Every Door." The title of Ms. Junior On Stage America went to...could I get a drum roll please...Ms. Kristi Gallagher for "How Great Thou Art."
For the teen division, the highest scoring solo trophy went to Kara Pendlebury for "On My Own." Jessica Lesage and Sammantha Foster danced to "Baby and Me" and took home the highest scoring Teen duo/trio trophy. The highest scoring Teen small group winners were "This is the Moment." And the Teen production that blew everyone else out of the water was "Glory." Ms. Teen On Stage America for East Providence is Ms. Sammantha Foster, for "Electric."
Highest scoring Senior solo award went to Courtney Rigby for "No Border Line." Kristi Gallagher and Courtney Rigby took the stage for "Please Remember" and apparently made quite an impression on the judges because they won highest scoring Senior duo/trio. Highest scoring Senior small group winners were "I Can't Stand in the Rain." "The Way You Make Me Feel" won for highest scoring Senior Production. Ms. Marissa Voller was crowned Ms. Senior On Stage America for "Tribute to Barbara."
In the Novice division, Bianca Desjarlais, Erin Lawrence, and Samantha Marv won in the duo/trio category for "Everything Old is New Again." Novice small group winners were the members of the dance group, "I've Got Rhythm," who apparently had quite a bit of rhythm, to win their plaque. In the production category, "Dancin' in the Street" raised the roof and paved a street to victory, winning their plaque.
Adults, who also display a certain charisma on stage, were quite exuberant at our East Providence competition. The adult solo winner was Olutayo Elemo for his rendition of "The Goin's Great." Highest scoring Adult duo/trio went to "I'm Beginning to See the Light." The highest scoring Adult small group plaque went to "The Way You Make Me Feel."
The competition was amazing. Thanks for showing On Stage America your talent. We hope to see you again next year. Remember, "we inspire our youth to higher goals", so you do the same!
