Austin, TX - Tapestry Dance Company, under the artistic direction of Acia Gray, opens their exciting 2002-2003 season at Austin's historic Paramount Theatre with new works and a rhythmic sense of humor in Austintatious! This exciting evening of community dance and music brings together an eclectic evening of the rhythm, movement and passion that makes up beautiful Austin, TX! The rhythms of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Tosca, Marcia Ball and the Asylum Street Spankers inspire movement celebration to local jewels such as Barton Springs, Lance Armstrong, the best of the cities "over 40" dance community and even downtown's favorite drag queen Leslie! With the company's seven versatile artists including new members from Canada, New Jersey, Ohio and Chicago, Tapestry will present some of the best young multi-form movers with exciting new rhythms, footwork and style!
Founded in 1989 by Deirdre Strand and Acia Gray, Tapestry is a non-profit, professional dance company specializing in the collaboration of rhythm tap, jazz, modern, contemporary ballet and ethnic dance performance and education.
