Flint Youth Ballet Members Receive Scholarships
Flint, MI-Several students from Flint Youth Ballet, the advanced dance ensemble of the Flint School of Performing Arts, recently received scholarships.
St. Cecilia Society Scholarships
Each fall, the St. Cecilia Society offers two dance scholarships to members of Flint Youth Ballet. This year's recipients were Sarah Pelc (16, Flint) and Jessica Trepka (12, Howell). The dancers were auditioned by this year's "Nutcracker" adjudicator, Melanie Person, formerly from the Dance Theatre of Harlem and currently Director of Children's Programs at the Ailey School in New York.
Joffrey Midwest Workshop Scholarships
The Joffrey Midwest Workshop offered two tuition scholarships to attend their summer intensive held each summer on the Flint Cultural Center Campus. This year's recipients were Jessica Trepka (12, Howell) and Ava Chatterson (14, Flint). Also attending the Joffrey Midwest Workshop this summer were Jessica Fair (14, Flint), Alexandra Jennings (15, Flint), Sarah Pelc (16, Flint) and Lindsay Schalter (15, East Lansing).
Dance Theatre of Harlem Scholarship
Talia Jo Byron (16, Flint) attended the School of the Dance Theatre of Harlem this summer on full scholarship.
