Gaynor Minden

Gaynor Minden, the company that revolutionized pointe shoes through the use of modern materials, announces its new line of tights and leotards - fresh and innovative designs available in stores for the back-to-school season. With inspirations as diverse as vintage couture, 1950's Hollywood glamour and J. S. Sargent's famous Portrait of Mme. X, the leotards are original, elegant, feminine - and - stretch-cotton functional.

Gaynor Minden went to Europe to find a mill capable of manufacturing ballet tights to their exacting specifications. Their tights are woven from a true microfiber (not a multifiber as most are) -each microfibre thread is actually 60 individual filaments. Only a true microfibre can produce a soft, caressing "hand" and exquisite stretch unequalled by other methods.

The company is offering both a black footless and a convertible pink tight. All details have been considered: the foot openings on the convertible are even reinforced with a special "net" weave to help prevent runs, and instead of a conventional tube shape the tights have a built-in ankle contour.

And in addition, the company is introducing a new concept in dancers' comfort: a warming and slimming combination of wool and microfiber in a sleek black footless tight. Somewhere between legwarmers and tights, this innovative new product will be a welcome replacement for bulky knits and sweats.

There will be an extensive advertising campaign starring American Ballet Theatre's phenomenal rising star Kristi Boone. For more information, call Carlota de Cardenas at 212.929.0087, ext. 26. •
