Miami Hispanic Ballet & American Airlines Present VII International Ballet Festival of Miami 2002 USA
This is one of the most important annual International Ballet Festivals in Miami and it features world-wide prestigious Ballet companies represented by their greatest stars.
After the unveiling of the poster, "The Queen of the Arts" and a multimedia conference on Sept. 3rd, followed by a special film, "Le Mystere Babilée," a special program of contemporary companies representing their latest choreographies will be presented on September 6 at 8:00 p.m. at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
The Grand Gala will take place on September 7 at 8:00 p.m., at the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach. It will feature some of the greatest stars from some of the largest ballet companies in the world. They will perform the best of the classical repertory as well as their contemporary works.
At the Grand Gala, "A Life for Dance" will be presented. It is an award that has been presented for the last five years as recognition for first-class ballet dancers, choreographers and teachers for their contribution to the dance world. This year it will awarded to the French ballet principal dancer Jean Babilée.
The closing of the Festival is September 8 at 3:00 p.m., at the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach and all participating companies will perform.
Throughout the Festival from September 2 - 6, Master Classes will be offered for dancers and advanced students in Classical Ballet, Modern Dance, Modern Jazz, Flamenco and Butoh. Classes will be held at the home of the Miami Hispanic Ballet, 1501 SW. 8 St, Miami, and at the Abdo New River Studio of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
