Dallas Black Dance Theatre To Perform in Ireland

Dallas, TX - The Dallas Black Dance Theatre traveled to Dublin, Ireland July 1, 2002- July 5, 2002 to perform for the 226th birthday celebration of America hosted by Richard J. Egan, U. S. Ambassador to Ireland. DBDT performed for the July 4, 2002 festivities on the 62-acre grounds of the Ambassador's residence overlooking Dublin from the quiet seclusion of Ireland's historic Phoenix Park. Among the special guests invited for the 3,000-person event were Ambassadors and Heads of State from 20 or more countries.

Ann Williams, DBDT Founder and Artistic Director stated, "Performing internationally sends a strong message abroad that the City of Dallas and State of Texas believe and support its cultural resources and diverse heritages. This is truly a special honor and we are pleased that Ambassador Egan extended this invitation as a part of our 25th Anniversary Season finale. We are proud to be international ambassadors..." Dallas Black Dance Theatre has already been invited to tour Ireland during the summer of 2003.

The invitation for Dallas Black Dance Theatre to perform at this all expense paid memorable occasion was been made possible by DBDT patron and friend Carlton Varney, one of America's best known interior designers and President/Owner of Dorothy Draper & Co., Inc. located in New York City.
