Ballet Theatre Company
Bloomfield, CT - Ballet Theatre Company, under the Artistic Direction of Bette-Ann Libin, has been
invited to stage "The Nutcracker" as an annual offering on the subscription series of the Hoffman Auditorium, Bruyette Athaeneum, Saint Joseph College, West Hartford, CT. The inaugural run will be for four performances, December 19, 20, 21, and 22,2002. The new Hoffman Auditorium opened in 2000. The subscription series of internationally acclaimed offerings debuted for the 2001/2002 season.
The four-year old Ballet Theatre Company, located in West Hartford, CT, performed for the first time in the Hoffman Auditorium June 1 and 2, 2002. The Company is delighted with its new performance home in this beautiful colonial style theater with state-of-the-art facilities.
Ballet Theatre Company is busy preparing "The Nutcracker," which will feature the delightful staging and choreography of newly appointed Ballet Master, Richard Steinert. This production was originally staged in 1987 for Ballet Arkansas, when Mr. Steinert was Artistic Director of that company. Ballet Mistress, Christine Duhon, will assist in the staging as well. Ms. Duhon danced the Sugar Plum Fairy role in the Ballet Arkansas production. Guest artists will join the Ballet Theatre Company dancers. Many students from the Studio of Dance, West Hartford, CT, under the direction of Bette-Ann Libin, and young dancers from the surrounding communities, will have the opportunity to perform with the company in the children's roles. Beverly Schilke will do the scenery design and construction. Tracy Dorman will do the costume design and coordinate the costuming effort.
