Orlando Ballet's 29th Season opens with the Romantic classic - Giselle

Orlando, FL - Orlando Ballet's 29th season will open on October 4, 2002 with one of the world's most celebrated ballets, "Giselle." First performed in 1841, this romantic classic has captivated audiences for centuries and is as popular today as it was 160 years ago.

The essence of Romanticism in dance, "Giselle" tells the tale of a peasant girl, who is betrayed by her one true love and dies of a broken heart. Transformed into a Wili (a spirit), she haunts the forest and inevitably saves her lover's life. A powerful and haunting production that has become an audience favorite, "Giselle" is theatrically considered to be the Hamlet of full- length story ballets.
