Nevada Ballet Theatre Offers a Season for Everyone!
Nevada Ballet Theatre has announced its 2002-2003 season, "A Season of Adventure & Romance." The 31-year old company will open the season with the Las Vegas premiere of a full-length "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at UNLV's Judy Bayley Theatre on Friday, October 4. The production will play five performances through Sunday, October 6.
With a beautiful score by Felix Mendelssohn and choreography by NBT Artistic Director Bruce Steivel, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" has 35 dancers, 80 colorful costumes and lavish sets designed by international designer, Christina Giannini.
Enhancing the season are encore productions of NBT's lavish, new version of "The Nutcracker" in December at the Rio's Samba Theatre and the ever-popular "Peter Pan" with special flying effects by ZFX in May at the Judy Bayley Theatre. A 30-piece orchestra will again accompany "The Nutcracker."
NBT's mixed repertory programs at UNLV's Judy Bayley Theatre and Artemus Ham Concert Hall include "Vivaldi to pink Floyd" in February and "A Salute To Richard Rodgers" in April. The former is an exciting program of one-act ballets featuring a company premiere, "Going for Baroque," by renowned San Francisco Ballet choreographer, Val Caniparoli, a world premiere classical ballet by Bruce Steivel and an encore performance of "Good Times," Steivel's contemporary work set to the music of popular 70's rock group Pink Floyd.
