American people are given the opportunity to use creativity in its most unique experience. Having this in mind, Jazz Dance began with great influence from African people. The African culture was forced and brought to the United States to serve as slaves. Dancing was a celebration of life- human life. The ability to communicate with their soul and body, while they continued to live a unpredictable lifestyle on American soil, gave them belief for their dreams. In the relationship between day and night, day was dedicated by strict hard labor with very little to gain for one self and the evening time was blessed to release the exhausting emotions by dancing throughout the night.
The melodrama in allowing their bodies to swing, isolate and to be uninhibited using several rhythms inside to out, brought exposure to others about their sexuality, passion, and the drive to survive.
The African people brought their own unique richness of movement to the table. The ability to imitate the African people by the other cultures was mysterious, forbidding but desirable. Executing the Authentic style in the African Dance comes from the soul and gut. The capacity to sway, isolate, being based through the pelvis, dynamic stamina, and having a consistent drumming device inside one's self, is the Power of Jazz Dance.
As dance moved from the African people and being shared among other social groups in America, Dance began to proceed through the decade with many changes. Constant modification in tempo, manner and philosophy were collective issues among the shakers and movers.
The root of African dance and the way in which men and women communicate of all races in America came together and manufactured the great art of Jazz Dance. Through the suffering, cruelty, emotion, search for happiness and joy in finding love, formulated the real gut of our society.
In understanding the root of Jazz Dance; the people, the spirit, and the freedom to acquire individual expression gave popularity for our American culture. Growth in corporations, nights clubs, and individual business shaped the American people's character through religion, education, recreational needs and sound purpose for desire in each community.
