David Howard Teachers’ Training Seminar in New York City

The David Howard Foundation, Inc., in conjunction with Dancer Magazine, will present a Teachers' Training Seminar on Saturday, January 8, 2005 at the New Dance Group Arts Center, 254 West 47th Street from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The seminar, entitled "Stay In Love With Your Teaching" will explore a kinesthetic approach to classical ballet and include a discussion on Place and Alignment, Petit Allegro, Barre Work, Turns, Adagio, Pointe Work, Enchainment, Center Practice and Combinations and Grand Allegro. Steven Mitchell, who has recorded many CDs of class accompaniment, will work with the teachers on how to interact with an accompanist and/or with CDs. New class notes and CDs will be available.

David Howard is one of the best known and most popular teachers, attracting well known professionals and serious ballet students to his daily classes in New York. Many teachers, dancers and students have attended these seminars which Mr. Howard and Mr. Mitchell, have presented throughout the U.S., Europe, Mexico and South America. The Teachers' Training Seminar has been a highlight of the Jackson Competition for many years.

There will be an extra special event, a Pointe Shoe Fitting Seminar conducted by Marlena Juniman of Prima Soft Dancewear.
