Dance Alive! opens its 2005-2006 season with a world premier performance, "On the Edge...The Best of the Best," at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts on Oct. 27th at 8pm and on Oct. 28th at 7:30pm...Maria Sikorskaya, from the Moscow Ballet Company, will conduct a master ballet class on Sunday, Oct. 16th at the Estelle & Alfonso Performing Arts Complex in Fishkill, NY. Kansas City Ballet will revive Margo Sappington's "Zuzu Lounge" during the company's 2005-2006 season. Ms. Sappington created the piece for the Ballet in 2002. The performances will take place on Oct. 6-8 at the Lyric Theatre in Kansas City, Missouri...Olivier Wecxteen, former principal dancer of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens and the Boston Ballet, will appear as a guest artist with the Charleston Ballet during this next season.

The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago opens their 2005-2006 season with the Bebe Miller Company, Oct. 6-8 at 8pm at The Dance Center. On Oct. 28, 29, The Dance Center will present the return of the legendary Merce Cunningham Dance Company in two distinct programs. Pinewood Dance Company, Stormville, NY, enjoyed a very successful performing and competition year. The dancers received an amazing 28 Overall High Score Awards at the four competitions that they attended. DEA awarded their company Director, Gina Chiavelli, the "Outstanding Choreography Award" for her lyrical piece, "Tradition."

The Manassas Dance Company, Manassas, VA, will perform "Dracula" on Oct. 29th and 30th. The performances will be held at Metz Middle School in Manassas. Richard Daniels, dancer/choreog-rapher, who began to create a daring new body of work 10 years ago when he resumed his career in dance after a 15-year absence, will present his newest concert, "Richard Daniels: Telling Tales" for four performances from Sept. 29-Oct. 2 at Danspace Project at St. Mark's Church in Manhattan. Diversity is the word in The Dance Art Museum of the Americas' "A Celebration of Dance," Oct. 1st in Santa Fe, NM. With a roster of disting-uished dancers from traditional to ethnic to innovative, the concert highlights the dynamic mixture of distinctive cultures in dance in New Mexico, valuing the vibrant artistic environment in which we live. Last year's "Celebration of Dance" concert was unprecedented in its content. Never before had such a range of form and style of dance been presented in one evening's performance in New Mexico. This year's benefit concert, with professional dancers again, will include ballet, Flamenco Middle Eastern, modern and comedy at the James A. Little Theater, 8pm on Oct. 1st. Frank Ohman taught part of the summer intensive at St. Louis Ballet. The Ballet's Artistic Director is former New York City Ballet principal, Gen Horiuchi...Dance Theater Performing Arts, in Titusville, FL, is directed by Chris Benziger. The studio consists of a dance, music and gymnastics divisions providing for a rounded performer. Dance Theater does three major productions a year. In addition the performing team has extra opportunities to practice their talents through Central Florida. This summer one of Dance Theater's students was accepted into the City Ballet of San Diego's Summer Intensive.

The Lone Star Ballet has two new artistic/academy directors for this - for both the ballet company and dance academy - Stephanie and Daniil Gaifullin of Sarasota, Florida. Daniil and Stephanie have had a partnership on and off the stage for 12 years. The two of them will serve dual roles as both the artistic and academy directors. Classes for the Lone Star Ballet Academy have begun at their new facility at 3218 Hobbs.
