Dear Dance Relief Friends, Participants, and Volunteers:
Congratulations to each and every one of you who participated in Dance Relief: Kids Helping Kids: A Relief for the Gulf Coast. Our efforts raised over $15,000!
The money raised will go directly to children who dance in the Gulf Coast region who were affected by the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina.
Donations of shoes, clothes, tights, etc. have been sent to the region to a coalition of dance educators who are working together to disseminate these donated costumes and dancewear.
We are still in need of donations, and anyone wishing to contribute can send tax deductible donation to Dance Relief, c/o Dancers Inc., 57 S. Main St. #321, Neptune, NJ 07753.
A group of teachers will be traveling to the Gulf Coast Region on March 11 & 12, 2006 to teach the children for free. There will be dance workshops for dancers, teachers and families to attend.
You can also read about the benefit relief as seen through the eyes of the children. Ambassadors Stephanie Fagen and Richard Westercamp will travel with the crew and write about their experiences. These will be published in upcoming issues of several national dance publications.
Again, none of this is possible without the support of a caring Dance Community, and kudos to all of you for opening your eyes and you hearts for this special event. Also, a special thank you to Envision Environmental, Inc. and Algonquin Arts for their generous support or further information or questions, please feel free to call Dan personally: Dan Barris, 732-685-8051 or via e-mail at dancerelief@dancers-inc.com.
Again, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
- Dan, Nicole, Patrick and Michelle
Owen,
Allow me to thank you for supplying such a wonderful forum, Dancer Magazine, for people like me, someone with a dancer's heart and spirit - to be able to retreat to after a day and night at the studio. Your publication has brought such a spring to my steps and the education on dance that you offer is such a blessing to all aspiring dancers.
Sincerely,
Lesa Bruce
