Flamenco Legend Manolete gives a two week Flamenco Dance workshop
Manolete", the genius of Flamenco dance for this generation will teach a two week Flamenco Dance workshop at PAN, Performing Arts Network in North Miami, sponsored by Ballet Flamenco La Rosa, this workshop is a rare opportunity to study with Great Master teacher, choreographer and legend.
Manolete "Dazzles audiences with his total control of the body as instrument and the sharp crystal clear rhythm and pure power of his feet". He is "...an artist with a lightness of foot and pencil-sharp changes of direction who displays a heart that is pure Andalusian Fire". Born in Caves of Sacromonte, the cradle of gypsy Flamenco, Manolete comes from a family of important Flamenco artists.
He has revolutionized the art form, representing the finest and highest level of his art.
After a long and successful career in Spain, with the most important companies and "Tablaos" (Flamenco Clubs), Manolete has become one of the most well known soloists, teachers, and choreographers, touring internationally with great acclaim in the major theatres of the world and in Spain, sought after as choreographer and soloist with such companies as The National Ballet of Spain, The Ballet Andaluz, and his own company which a documentary was documentary was made that aired Internationally on Latin HBO. He revolutionized the way dancers interpreted the rhythm, and used the space, bringing Flamenco to a whole new level, with a very sophisticated technique and style. He is one of those rare artists that takes your breath away merely by entering the stage, or raising his arms. His command of this art is clearly that of a great master. He has unique gift of balancing complexity and purity, power and restraint, contained passion and electrifying release, that make Flamenco the magnetic art form that it is.
Manolete has been the "Maestro" of all young Flamenco stars of this generation. Sara Baras, Antonio Canles, Joaquin Cortes, Merche Esmeralda, Belen Maya, Belen Fernandez, Javier de la Torre, Javier Baron, and Antonio Alonso as well as Ilisa Rosal, Artistic Director of Miami based Ballet Flamenco La Rosa. He was Ms. Rosal's mentor and teacher in Spain, and greatly influenced her styled as a dancer and choreographer. This current
collaboration will be a wonderful artistic step for both the company and the two choreographers.
Ballet Flamenco La Rosa has a twenty year history of producing high quality traditional Flamenco plus cutting edge contemporary works based on Flamenco, as well as collaborations between Flamenco and other forms of music and dance. They have consistently attracted sellout crowds, standing ovations, and great critical acclaim. Ballet Flamenco La Rosa has been called "One of our local treasures". While offering South Florida their popular concert season, BFLR also provides ooutreach to local schools, libraries and community events. They also teach regular classes in Flamenco at PAN, Performing Arts Network, at 13126 West Dixie Hwy, N.
