Deirdre: Ms. Wang, when did you create the Golden Sunshine Company?
Mimi Wang: I founded GS in 1998 to update ancient Chinese pain relief formulas and make them convenient to use for athletes and people with active lifestyles.
Deirdre: What sets them apart from other 'natural' remedies?
Mimi: Other 'natural' consumer products use only a few herbs and rely on the counter-irritant analgesia effect of their formulas to mask the pain. They generate the feeling of heat or cold and offer only temporary relief while the feeling lasts. GS products use around 20 therapeutic herbs which, in combination, help the body's healing mechanisms by reducing bruising, swelling and inflammation while increasing circulation to the area. Athletes such as dancers, cheerleaders, etc. know the value of reducing downtime and, of course, pain.
Deirdre: Mr. Floyd, GS's pain relief products come in patch, cream, spray and paste forms. Are these the same formulas?
Richard Floyd: No, each product is a separate formulation for different applications. The Herbal Paste is the strongest formulation and is made for traumatic injuries where deep penetration into the tissue is desired. Our Herbal Cream is ideal for chronic pain such as arthritis and is easily applied to the joints. Herbal Spray is convenient for sports injuries either before, during or after a strenuous workout. The Herbal Soothing Patch is great for applying to broad areas like the back, thighs or torso and offers long-lasting relief. You can use the Herbal Patch along with Herbal Cream or Herbal Spray for maximum effect.
Deirdre: What kind of research goes into the products?
Richard: GS uses consultant doctors who test the products in the marketplace before production and registration with the FDA. We also work with a major hospital group in California and several universities. The products themselves are ancient formulas that have been used for centuries...we work with experts in Traditional Chinese Medicine who have the know-how to get the formulas right. GS brings together the best of traditional Chinese medicine and modern Western technology.
Deirdre: Can the patch be worn while working out?
Richard: Yes- the patch is flexible and can be cut to fit as well, though many dancers prefer to use our Herbal Cream or Herbal Spray while exercising because they're invisible and work for long periods of time.
Mimi: You could apply the patch over it later for more concentrated delivery of the therapeutic herbs.
Deirdre: GS has some unique new pain relief products incorporating Far Infrared. How is that done, and why are these products so beneficial?
Richard: We are employing state-of-the-art technology in our Far Infrared products, the first of which is the new Far Infrared Herbal Patch. These products use a manufacturing process to incorporate a piezoelectric ingredient that emits a Far Infrared frequency along with the delivery of Chinese herbs when activated by body heat. Far Infrared frequencies have therapeutic properties and have been used in heat lamps, saunas and other products. We're excited to have this new technology in our products.

Our Skin Care Essentials include our Collagen Peptide Facial Mask, Collagen Peptide Extract, Active C Powder, Wrinkle Softener Serum, and Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Serum among other items.
Deirdre: What is Hyaluronic Acid? I've heard of it before.
Mimi: Hyaluronic Acid is the most plentiful carbohydrate in the body; it's used to lubricate and moisturize its tissues. It's the body's natural moisturizer, and it has become popular in many skin care products. GS's Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Serum is a natural, concentrated form and the ideal moisturizer for your skin.
Richard: Our Collagen Peptide facial mask is also popular. You apply the mask after washing your face and leave it on for about half an hour. Deirdre: Do you have any anecdotes about the product you'd like to share?
Richard: While at the 2004 Tango fantasy festival in Miami Beach, one of the performers sprained his knee. Mimi to the rescue with Herbal Spray. He started calling it 'Miracle Spray" because he got immediate relief and was able to perform throughout the remainder of the festival. We hear the word "miracle" a lot.
Mimi: We realize the need for these products within the dance community because you don't want something that will just mask the pain. You need to help the body heal. GS is willing to extend its professional wholesale program to dance schools and instructors.
Deirdre: Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Richard: We're developing new products and have several in process. One is an Herbal Healing Poultice which can be used on open cuts or burns.
