PJC Summer Workshop Celebrates 25 Years

The Pensacola Junior College Summer Dance Workshop will celebrate its 25th Anniversary on the Pensacola Campus at 1000 College Boulevard, June
12-17, 2006. The workshop's schedule has been expanded this year in honor of
the anniversary celebration. It will
be an exciting learning experience and fun for all.

Instructors include: Dorothy Lister-Ballet; Karen Hebert-Theatre Dance; Keith Cross-Jazz; Robert Atwood-Ballet with Floor Barre; Starr Burlingame-Modern; Pamela Bolling-Funky Fun Jazz; Reagan Marie-Tap; LaRita Carter-Hip-Hop; Alecia-Jane Arts-Pilates; Kym Atwood-Health & Nutrition for Dancers and Latin Cardio Groove, and Bill Moore-Care & Prevention of Dance Injuries.

The adult section of dance classes will be expanded this year with the addition of Adult Ballet taught by Robert Atwood. Keith Cross will continue to teach the Adult Jazz and Reagan Marie, the Adult Tap. The other new classes offered this year include Health & Nutrition for Dancers and Care & Prevention of Dance Injuries, which are designed for advanced dancers, teachers, and parents of dancers. Latin Cardio Groove is a dance/exercise class that really moves and for which you need not have any prior dance experience. Scholarship auditions will be held for the Joffrey Ballet School and STEPS on Broadway, NYC; Giordano Jazz Workshop, Chicago; Retter Academy, Los Angeles; Hebert/Bolling Workshop, Orlando; MusicWorks Convention (choice of city), Disney Enterprises, Orlando; and to return to the PJC Summer Dance Workshop.

In honor of the 25th Anniversary, the first twenty-five participants to enroll in the Multiple Styles section of the
workshop (complete week of classes) will receive gifts in celebration. Plus any teachers and teaching assistants who attend the Multiple Styles section of the Summer Dance Workshop and also attend the Dance Educators Workshop (A MusicWorks Event), which will be held October 20-22, 2006, will receive
a discount on the Dance
Educators Workshop.

The cost of the full workshop (Multiple Styles), where the participant is eligible to take a class every class period of every day, is $275, and individual styles range from $45-$85. Observer fee for the full week is $35. Dancers must be a minimum of 10 years of age with at least one year of dance experience to be eligible for beginner classes. Classes are held on all levels from beginner through advanced. College credit is available for those who qualify.
