The International Hustle and Salsa Competition (IHSC) is scheduled for April 6-9, 2006 at the Radisson Miami Hotel. As part of its educational outreach program, Moscow Ballet invites dance studios through out the U.S. to participate in its 3rd Annual Swan Lake Summer Program. Taught by a Moscow Ballet Russian soloist, the summer program includes morning classes of ballet technique, pointe and variations, character dance, and partnering. Afternoon sessions are dedicated to repertory classes in which students are taught selections from "Swan Lake," "Giselle," "Nutcracker," "Sleeping Beauty," and "Cinderella." This weeklong intensive program is available June 1st-August 30th. This program can be tailored to your student's needs and age group. Developed by Co-producer, Mary Talmi, the Swan Lake Summer Program is a unique training cultural program for children to work one-on-one with a Russian soloist. Introduced in 2004, hosted by the only eight dance studios, the program began an overnight success. Last year, over twenty five dance studios participated in this wonderful intensive workshop. Youth Auditions for Broadway Performance in Tap City, the New York City Tap Festival: Audition submissions are now being accepted for the Tap Youth Tap Future performance to be held during Tap City, The New York City Tap Festival, July 8th - 15th, 2006. Requirements: If selected, students must become registered participants of the Tap Festival, and be enrolled in a minimum of one course. This year's performance will be held at the Duke on 42nd Street Theater. Pieces must be 3 minutes or less in duration. Please do not send in multiple packages of separate information or materials. Incomplete submissions will not be considered. The information you send should read as it would appear in the program: Name of group or school, Bio (150 words or less), dancer's names, name of piece, music, artist, choreographer credits and any other pertinent information regarding your entry. Your audition submission must represent the piece that you may be performing and the costumes that you will be wearing. Tap City 2006 Youth Scholarships: Tap City 2006 Youth Scholarship Awards for tap dancers ages 7-18. Students may apply for a scholarship to the New York City Tap Festival. The Festival will run eight days, and scholarship may include classes, events and performance opportunities. A printable scholarship application form is available on their web site at. http://www.atdf.org. Students will be notified within two weeks of application. Application deadline is - May 1st, 2006.

The Dance Council presents the 2006 Dance for the Planet Festival at Samuell Grand Park in Dallas from Noon to 5:00 p.m. on April 29 & 30, 2006. This free, outdoor, dance festival will celebrate its 10th birthday at Samuell Grand Park, the temporary site of Annette Strauss Artist Square during the construction of the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts in the Dallas Arts District. The company will perform its western ballet about lawlessness, love and redemption entitled "Fool's Gold" as well as its "Reel Romance-Take Three," a nostalgic look at three famous couples who have been immortalized on the silver screen. The Flint Institute of Music (FIM) recently received a three-year grant totaling more than $460,000 from the Ruth Mott Foundation. These funds will substantially augment the FIM's tuition-free program offerings, both on-site and off. Dedicated to providing performing arts programs and learning experiences for all ages, the FIM has more than 200,000 visitors each year through the Flint Symphony Orchestra and Flint School of Performing Arts. FIM receives support from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts. FIM is a nonprofit organization and an Equal Opportunity Employer providing programs and services without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex or handicap. It is located on the Flint Cultural Center Campus between Mott Community College and the University of Michigan-Flint.

Pro Danza Italia has a very innovative program this summer. Tamar Rogoff is coming for a week; they will all go to Montescudaio, a Tuscan hill town nearby and Tamar, in collaboration with dancers and townspeople, will create a site-specific piece over the course of the week. There will be a final performance of the piece on July 7th, Friday evening. The entire process and performance will be videotaped.

In addition, very well-respected European choreographers have been invited to give master classes that first week. Among them is the uniquely revered Mischa van Hoecke, who among his many credits, has been choreographing a piece every summer for the Ravenna Festival.  This summer it is a piece, together
with the NY Philharmonic, choreographed to Mozart music.
Also teaching will be Maria "Mary" Napoli - TOP hip hopper in Italy, whose team "ROCKEFELLER" made 4th place in the International Hip Hop competition that took place last August in Redondo Beach California. For the last 3 weeks, Billy Siegenfeld and Lynda Davis will be teaching in their incomparable fashion and preparing for the performance on July 27th - outdoors under the stars of Tuscany! Studio B Dance Center has been invited to join Dance fest, sponsored by the Stamford Center for the Arts. This will be their 3rd year participating in this exciting and educational program. Dance fest is a week long dance festival that includes master classes, attending a performance by a professional dance company and finishes the week with an all-student performance on the Rich Forum Stage.

Although the SCA only allows each studio to perform one piece (This year it will be the Diamond Anniversary Pointe Ballet), all Jr. Company IV, Sr. apprentice and Sr. Company dancers are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to take master classes, attend the ABT Studio company performance, and observe students and choreography from 20 studios in surrounding areas.

Orlando Ballet School won "Best School" for the 3rd consecutive year at the Youth America Grand Prix regional semi-finals in Orlando, FL recently. Thirty current Orlando Ballet School students entered the competition which hosted over 100 student competitors from the Southeast region including North and South Carolina, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. Orlando Ballet School won best school, the Grand Prix award (best student overall), 1st place on ensemble, and took home Gold, Silver and Bronze in all categories of Male/ Female, Junior/ Senior and Classical/Contemporary at this prestigious ballet competition. In the senior contemporary division, one of the top twelve and four of the top twelve in the junior classical division finalists were from Orlando Ballet School. Orlando Ballet School Director Peter Stark said, "Our students worked so hard to reach their level of achievement. We're proud of all of them."

Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) is the only student ballet competition in America that awards scholarships to the leading dance schools in the U.S. and abroad. The competition, hosted by Orlando Ballet, drew over 100 students from out of town and generated 143 rooms in local hotels. Launched in the year 2000 by two former dancers of the world-renowned The Bolshoi Ballet, Larissa and Gennadi Saveliev, YAGP was created to provide extraordinary educational and professional opportunities for young student dancers, acting as a stepping stone to a professional dance career.

Orlando Ballet School student winners were Shelby Ratchford--Gold medal Senior Classical; Nathan Driftmeyer--Gold Medal in both Senior Classical and Senior Contemporary; Anne Sandefur--Gold medal Senior Contemporary and Silver medal Senior Classical; Kathryn Tosh--Silver medal Senior Classical; Erin Pritchard--Silver medal Senior Contemporary; Maddie Rose Skelly--Silver medal Junior Contemporary; Jill Schwartz--Bronze medal Senior Classical; Dustin Snoody--Silver medal Senior Classical; Christopher Revels--Silver medal Junior Contemporary; and Logan Learned--Grand Prix winner.  The Grand Prix winner is deemed the overall best in competition. 

Chicago Tap Theatre presents a tap dance show that marks the return of the critically-acclaimed partnership between Chicago Tap Theatre and Tapage, a conceptual tap dance company from Toulouse, France.
