CNADM 2006 Summer Dance Workshops Eight days of dance education

The Chicago National Association of Dance Masters (CNADM) will hold its 94th Annual Summer Dance Workshops July 24 - 31, 2006, at the Sheraton Chicago Northwest Hotel in Arlington Heights, IL. The event features classes for both dance students and teachers and will showcase the talents and expertise of 16 nationally renowned dance educators: Marcus Alford, Shani Barnett, Connie Fagan, Heather Fraelick, Sherri Gilpin, Rhee Gold, Diane Gudat, Jeffrey Hancock, Libby Lovejoy, Brian Marcum, Ricardo Moyano, Terrell Paulk, Jeremy Plummer, Adina Reichlin, Judy Rice, and Tyler Walters. New this year, former studio owner Rhee Gold will offer CNADM workshop attendees a special version of his Project Motivate! On July 23, dance studio owners and business managers may attend "It's a Business." (Note: This session is open to workshop attendees AND those who cannot attend the workshops but still want to benefit from the advice of Mr. Gold.) On July 24, Mr. Gold presents "The Motivated Teacher" for Training School attendees, providing tips on working with students, parents and teachers in a positive way.

The eight-day CNADM Summer Dance Workshop program features the following instructional tracks covering various dance disciplines with emphasis on ballet, tap and jazz:

u Training School, July 14 - 27, places emphasis on teaching technique, educational theory and personal dance development through classes and workshops.

u Dance and More...Training for the Aspiring Dance Professional, July 24 - 27, is designed with classes of particular interest to the maturing dance student who is considering the pursuit of a professional dance career.

u National Ballet Forum, July 24 - 28, provides dance teachers and artistic directors the opportunity to obtain new works created by nationally recognized choreographers, while students study with a professional classical ballet faculty and participate in the creation of a new ballet.

u Convention, July 28 - 31, consists of a continuing education seminar especially designed to serve the needs of the professional dance educator. Emphasis is placed on providing original choreographed materials, notated in book form.

u Student Sessions, July 29 - 31, offer three days for students ages 10 to 16+ to enhance their development. Emphasis is placed on technique and performance through classes conducted by a faculty of master teachers and performers.

In addition to the workshop classes, CNADM will host its 94th Annual Banquet on July 27, this year honoring the contributions of ballet educator David Howard with the CNADM Artistic Achievement Award. Ballet Gala will take place on the evening of July 28, featuring the presentation of a newly commissioned ballet from National Ballet Forum. On July 29, CNADM features Command Performance!, showcasing three nationally renowned dance companies: Chicago Dance Latin and Ballroom School, Jump Rhythm Jazz Project and Same Planet, Different World. The week will close out with Student Competition on the evening
of July 30.
