Dancers Against Cancer

Dancers Against Cancer is a non-profit organization that travels to cities asking the local studios to put on a breast cancer awareness performance. DAC uses the proceeds from ticket and merchandise sales to donate to a local foundation.

In January DAC asked Applause Studios, Encore Performing Arts, FGI School of Dance, Dove Dance, Dance Masters, Victory School of Arts, Leslie Michelle Dance, Dance Visions, Lynda Tarpley Dance, and Range of Motion to perform. These studios raised $4,000 and the proceeds were donated to the American Cancer Society.

In May DAC asked Cherie's Dance, Studio Dance, The Ballet Academy, The Dance Company, Dance Arts Iowa, 'F'resh Grooves, Xavier High Dance Team, and Maolisa Irish Step to perform. These studios raised $3,000 which was donated to University of Iowa, The Especially For You, and the Especially For You foundations.

DAC was founded by Jody Isenhour, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2005. During a chemo treatment the idea came to her to help other dancers. DAC is in the process of getting dates for Mississippi, Louisiana, Michigan, Arkansas, and Canada. If you would like for DAC to come to your city please contact them at jodyisenhour@mchsi.com or visit their website at www.dancersagainstcancer.org.
