Orlando Ballet Honors Fernando Bujones in Bravo Bujones

On Saturday, November 11, 2006, Orlando Ballet will honor late Artistic Director Fernando Bujones in Bravo Bujones, a celebration of the vision and artistry of America's greatest male dancer of the twentieth century, with a performance featuring highlights of his career as a dancer, choreographer, and director.  Fernando Bujones (1955-2005) left an indelible mark on the world of dance including his brilliant work as a dancer, his spirit within his dancers, and the remarkable artistic growth he bequeathed to Orlando Ballet with in the five plus years as its artistic director.

An evening to remember! Bravo Bujones will focus on male dancing with the full range of bravura dancing, from popular to classical. Not only will Orlando again see samples of Fernando Bujones' stunning choreography but Bruce Marks has assembled a group of world-class guest male dancers to join Orlando Ballet's male artists performing Mr. Bujones' signature roles. The entire company of Orlando Ballet dancers will be joined by international guest artists, including Rasta Thomas, to perform incredible range of repertoire. The program will not disappoint the novice or the experienced ballet patron.

President of Orlando Ballet, Linda Landman-Gonzalez, said, "To see the works that Fernando made famous as a dancer being performed by our talented male dancers and these international guest stars adds excitement to an already exciting program." Executive Director Russell Allen said "Maestro Bujones' choreography, such as Bolero, and works that he commissioned, such as I Breathe You In, exemplifying Fernando Bujones' commitment to increasing the availability of quality contemporary repertoire."

Artistic Director Bruce Marks states "Bujones was the most brilliant dancer of his age and to honor him I am inviting some of the world's most exciting young male dancers to perform for the Orlando audience.  We are arranging an evening of 'ballet fireworks' that will move you to cheers."

Gold Circle seats are reserved for Gala patrons who purchase tables $5,000, $3,500 or $2,500 for a table of 8. Gala patrons are invited to a pre-performance reception and a post-performance dinner to meet and greet Orlando Ballet dancers and guest performers.
