The Princess Grace Foundation, founded in 1984 in memory of Princess Grace of Monaco, announced its 2006 awards in theater, dance and film at a ceremony on November 2, 2006.
Dance fellowships were awarded to: Leonides Arpon of Armitage Gone! (directed by Karole Armitage); Adrienne
Benz of BalletMet Columbus; Sara Esty, of Miami City Ballet; Laurel Keen of LINES Ballet. Dance Scholarships were awarded to: John Mark Giragosian, Maryland Youth Ballet and Riley Watts, The Juilliard School. Choreography Fellowship Awards went to Camille A.
Brown, Urban Bush Women and Adam Hougland, Ballet Memphis.
In addition to the traditional grants, the Foundation awarded an Additional General Operating Support grant to the companies hosting a 2006 Princess Grace Award winner. With the general downturn in funding for the arts, nonprofit theater and dance companies are
grateful for this support.
