Patrick FRANTZ

Patrick Frantz, now based in Los Angeles, has brought dancers to his hometown of Paris for several field trips. He is now collaborating with his Paris Opera colleagues along with other internationally known modern and hip hop teachers for an intensive training workshop this July in Paris. The workshop will include backstage visits to the Paris Opera, attendance at performances, as well as fireworks at the Bastille Day celebration. Trained at the Paris Opera Ballet School, Patrick FRANTZ enters the Paris Opera Ballet in 1959. He climbs the hierarchy quickly and is named Premier Danseur in 1966. His multiple talents are already recognized, he is only 23 years old: Interpreter, but also Pedagogue and Choreographer, he is a Guest Teacher to the International Mime School of Marcel MARCEAU, Founder of the Young Choreographers of the Paris Opera, and Guest Choreographer to the well-known Festival of Avignon. He gains simultaneously the First Prize of Piano at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris.

In 1971, he flies away for an international career which begins as Principal Dancer, Professor and Choreographer in Residence for Pennsylvania Ballet, United States.

The artistic evolution of Patrick Frantz is out of the common run since in 1973, he is then 30 years old, he is seen entrusting the responsibility for Artistic Director of New City Ballet in Maryland for which he has choreographed many original pieces.
His creative fiber and his skills for responsibilities make him an actor of the Dance evolution in the United States: while offered Artistic Director for Tucson Ballet in 1975, he creates the Tucson Ballet School, institutions which both remain references to the United States to date.

He is named in 1979 as Artistic Director of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre for which he continues his work of creation, and founds Pittsburgh Ballet School. Meanwhile, he continues to be requested as international Guest Choreographer.

From 1983 to 1990, many establishments of reputation call upon his experience: He is member of Faculty Stanley Holden Dance Center of Los Angeles, Choreographer in Residence of Los Angeles Chamber Ballet, Guest Master Teacher at the Joffrey Ballet, the American Ballet Theatre, Guest Teacher and Choreographer at Westside Ballet of Los Angeles.

Since 1990, the career of Mr. Frantz did not cease developing internationally. He has created and runs to date the acclaimed Californian Company La Danserie, acclaimed by the American Press and the State of California, he is also Artistic Director of Rozann-Zimmermann Ballet Center, Choreographer of the Ballet Festival, member of Faculty California Dance Theatre, Guest Teacher and Choreographer at Joffrey Ballet, and Hubbard Street Dance Theatre of Chicago, at the very selective Theatre Colon of Buenos Aires, at the University of Utah, the Crystal Cathedral, and the Danshaus in Copenhagen, Denmark. He also takes part as a Guest Teacher in many international Training Courses.

Mr Frantz has worked with the greatest names of the Ballet world: Serge LIFAR, George BALANCHINE, Jerome ROBBINS, Yvette CHAUVIRE, Maurice BEJART, Leonide MASSINE, Mikhael BARYSHNIKOV, Roland PETIT, Harald LANDER, George SKIBINE, John BUTLER, Milko SPAREMBLEK, Gene KELLY, Kenneth McMILLAN...
