Princess Grace Awards Scholarships and Awards Grants and Fellowships

Founded in 1982, the Princes Grace Awards has awarded nearly 500 grants in excess of $4,500,000 to young artists in theater, dance and film. To apply, an individual (one U.S. citizen only) must be nominated from a non-profit dance company or the Dean of Department Chair of a professional non-profit dance school. Scholarships provide tuition for professional training at a non-profit American school where the applicant has been enrolled for at least one year. Fellowships provide salary assistance for a new member in a dance company where the applicant has joined the company within the past five years. Additionally, companies awarded fellowships will receive a small grant for general operating expenses. Previous awardees have included members of ABT, NYCB, former Martha Graham Contemporary Dance Company members. A special award endowed by the San Francisco Ballet and Royal Ballet dancer Chris Hellman, will be awarded. Choreography Fellowships grants are also awarded

In I923, Serge Diaghilev's Ballets Russes signed a contract with the Principality of Monaco to become the official ballet of the Monte Carlo Opera and changed its name to Les Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo, under the direction Serge de Diaghilev. There and in previous and following seasons, some of the great masterworks of the 20th Century were created and performed.
