Real Life Pas de Deux for Two IBC Medalists
Rasta Thomas and Adrienne Canterna, 1998 USA IBC gold medal winners, have embarked on a real life pas de deux marrying late March in Baltimore, MD.
They were both teenagers when they won their gold medals at the IBC in Jackson. Since that time, both dancers have returned to the IBC as guest performers.
Rasta and Adrienne first met at a dance studio when they were nine and 10. She says she taught him how to do his first pirouette! Their teacher paired them up, and that was the innocent beginning of a lifelong friendship and partnership.
Since that time much has happened to each of them - successfully as dancers. Rasta recently finished touring with the Broadway musical, "Movin' Out;" danced the leading role of Othello as a guest in ABT's production of "Othello" at the Kennedy Center; and debuted a solo at at gala in Orlando, FL that was choreographed by his new wife. He has formed his own ensemble called "Bad Boyz of Dance."
Adrienne has spent the last two years dancing with Complexions Contemporary Ballet in New York City. She directs and performs with her own company, American Dance Artists. Along with her sister Ashley, she can also be seen in the motion picture "Step Up."
Right now, aside from enjoying this new level of their partnership - marriage, the couple continues to travel as guest artists; both are busy choreographing numerous projects. Dancer wishes them a long and happy life filled with love, peace, contentment, and joy.
