Say it with SHINE. Dancers have the POWER to Make a Difference.
After Years of Quietly Waiting for the Most Inspirational and Exciting Fundraiser for their Students; Dance and Cheer Directors get a Treat from SequinsDirect.com, DRA and Elizabeth Barry & Associates.
SequinsDirect.com and Dancers Responding to AIDS (DRA) a program of Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS today announced the launch of this year's hottest trend and fundraiser for dance and cheer organizations: Introducing The Power of Shine™ wristband. Wrists among active ‘tweens nationwide, are requested to be adorned with the notable RED REAL sequin wristband representing the fight for HIV/AIDS in the dance community.
The campaign begins at the New Jersey, United Dance Merchants of America Event on October 13th and 14th at the SequinsDirect.com booth. Power of Shine™ wristbands will be sold on site to represent the beginning of this fashion-forward celebration to inspire dancers. Possible spokesperson appearances are TBD. The Power of Shine™ RED REAL sequins wristband is this year's fashion-forward fundraiser for dancers to band together and dance for a greater cause. For every Power of Shine™ wristband sold, $1 goes directly to Dancers Responding to AIDS (DRA), www.DRAdance.org. Wristbands are sold exclusively at SequinsDirect.com for $3.00 each with a wholesale minimum of two dozen. Dance studios are encouraged to purchase the wristbands in bulk and resell them at their schools as a fundraising idea. Retail value of wristbands $5-$10.
This year's Power of Shine™ spokeswomen include three demographics to touch the hearts of young dancers and competition students, teachers and choreographers, as well as Broadway, Film and TV. Spokeswomen include: Justine DelPriora, reigning Miss Dance Of the United States ®, Rhonda Miller, Master Teacher and Choreographer, and Karine Plantadit of Broadway's MOVIN' OUT, TV's SEX AND THE CITY and the film ACROSS THE UNIVERSE.
“The beauty of the Power of Shine™ campaign is that the donation to DRA is built into the wholesale price, so when dancers re-sell the bands, they can make a profit for studio necessities, competitions, costumes or whatever their needs may be or take the additional funds and give back to DRA.” stated Denise Roberts Hurlin, Founding Director of DRA.
“We're tracking the online success of each buyer's generosity. When 500 or more POWER of SHINE™ wristbands are purchased at check out, buyers are automatically entered to win a special prize at the end of the dance season,” added Elizabeth Barry, Campaign Co-Coordinator. “Checkout Purchase MUST equate to 500 or more to enter, and re-entry into the ‘prize pot' will add up with each purchase of 500 or more,” Barry noted.
